About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Microsoft Purview Implementation Specialist to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 3- month contract with the potential to extend and will be a remote role that will require the successful candidate to go into the nearest office twice per month.

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Microsoft Purview Implementation Specialist to join their team. This role will focus on both the governance and implementation of Microsoft Purview solutions to ensure effective data management, compliance, and security across their organisation. The ideal candidate will have a experience in delivering the configuration and set up of Purview and have hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview.

Responsibilities

  • Set up collections to organise data assets by department, project, or business unit.
  • Define hierarchies to group related assets to support governance
  • Assigning roles like Data Reader, Data Curator, and Collection Admin
  • Use Azure Active Directory (AAD) to manage user authentication and role-based access control (RBAC)
  • Configure built-in or custom classification rules for sensitive data (e.g., PII, financial data)
  • Enable automatic data classification during scanning
  • Create and maintain a business glossary for standardised definitions of terms
  • Link glossary terms to data assets to provide business context
  • Define and enforce data access policies within Purview
  • Configure scanning policies for specific data sources and sensitivity levels
  • Enable data lineage tracking to visualize data movement across systems
  • Configure lineage capture for specific data sources and transformation tools

About You

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience in the configuration and set up of Purview
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview 
  • Strong understanding of Azure Actice Directory (AAD)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate) are a plus
