Network Test and Automation Engineer - Remote

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Network Test and Automation Engineer to work for our client within the telecoms sector. This role can be carried out remotely or in Bradford. 

Our client is seeking a talented network test and automation engineer to join their diverse and high performing team. The ideal candidate will be professional, driven with a customer focus and be delivery orientated. The client is specifically looking for someone with a desire to learn and an agile and adaptable mindset.

Responsibilities

• Create test plans and test cases based on specifications/requirements from the project team
• Responsible for executing tests including various types of testing such as system, regression, and performance testing
• Analyse and document software defects, and collaborate with the development team to troubleshoot and fix issues
• Follow agile process established in the team and make use of JIRA/Confluence to record test and test results
• Strong knowledge of Cisco devices and networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of Cisco devices and networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
• In-depth understanding of L2/L3 protocols and their implementation (CoS/QoS, TACACs, SNMP, FTP, SSH, NTP, ACLs, layer 2 like CPE/NTU device configuration & management)
• Experience with traffic generation tools such as IXIA and Spirent
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Shell for developing automation scripts
• Strong knowledge of scripting bash/python/vbscript
• Solid understanding of programming concepts like functions, loops, variables
• Software build experience/knowledge of software frameworks with Python and Java
• Experience of developing and working with Restful APIs to pull and push data
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during testing
• High attention to detail to ensure thorough testing and accurate results
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and report findings
• Experience with Jira and Confluence for managing test cases, tracking issues, and documenting processes
• Good understanding of Agile processes and experience working in Agile teams
• Solid understanding of defect investigation and management and documentation (process updates, test plans, test results, config documents etc.)
