About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to work for our client within the financial services sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Manchester or Chester.

You will be working for the loans and affordability platform for the client. You will help to transform, modernise, and re-imagine the existing consumer services, adopting the latest technology and agile ways of working to deliver iterative value at pace.  The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering against Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and SRE Public Cloud technology roadmaps
  • Building & supporting shared hosting services such as Kubernetes, Ingress/Egress, Networking patterns, Certificates & data resources on public cloud
  • Implement the best use of DevOps tools, like Jenkins, harness, source control platforms such as GIT, GHE
  • Troubleshooting, investigating & diagnosing service issues, with an engineering mentality – then work with the service teams to ensure changes are put in place so that the same issues are not encountered again.
  • Implementing continued enhancements to drive improvements
  • Designing and implementing secure automation solutions for our develop, test and production pipelines
  • Collaboratively working with other engineering teams to build, release and evolve enterprise-class solutions, that are reliable and evergreen as cloud technologies continue to mature as a fast-pace
  • Responsible for the operations of a large set of Cloud products and services

 

About You

Requirements

  • Experience working with a broad set of GCP products (or extensive experience with another Public Cloud platform, such as Azure or AWS)
  • Strong DevOps understanding, including experience of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines, such as Terraform and Jenkins, or alternatives such as Azure DevOps
  • Ability to quickly understand, update and write code in languages such as Python, Groovy, BASH, PowerShell
  • A strong understanding of Cloud security and networking
  • Experience in problem-solving, able to demonstrate logical thinking and excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrate a passion to continue to learn and develop your engineering skills
  • Strong understanding and demonstrable use of source control practice and collaborative working as part of an engineering team
  • Experience of developing for, or administrating Kubernetes clusters in a production environment
  • Experience in automating/scripting to remove toil
