About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is seeking a Java Developer located in Charlotte, NC to support a project in the finance sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months but may be extended.

 

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office days per week.

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting and enhancing our RESTful API applications in a Linux environment, with a strong focus on Spring Boot, Oracle database querying, and performance optimization. This position requires immediate availability and the ability to contribute from day one.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using Java (currently Java 17, migrating to Java 21) and Spring Boot frameworks.
  • Work extensively with Oracle databases, writing advanced queries and optimizing database performance.
  • Support and troubleshoot RESTful APIs, ensuring reliability and scalability.
  • Operate in a Linux environment, leveraging command-line tools and scripting as needed.
  • Utilize Spring technologies as part of the application stack.
  • Address and resolve performance issues, particularly those related to Java Batch Management JBM) and database capacity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions in a timely manner.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables, ensuring minimal supervision is required.

About You

Required Skills

5+ years of hands-on experience in Java development, with a strong command of Java 17 (and readiness to work with Java 21.
  • Expertise in Spring Boot and related Spring technologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in Oracle database querying and performance tuning.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment with command-line proficiency.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design, implementation, and support.
  • Familiarity with the Spring Boot stack.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve performance and capacity issues in database-centric applications.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative on immediate project needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Java Batch Management JBM) and resolving related performance issues.
  • Previous experience in the banking or financial services sector.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
