About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Project Manager to work for our client within the insurance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Edinburgh or Alderley Park.

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager who is skilled in waterfall methodology as opposed to agile. You’ll have a background in financial services to understand the regulatory landscape. As part of your role, you will define success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress while ensuring resource availability and allocation
  • Manage changes to the project scope, schedule and costs utilising appropriate verification techniques as well as measuring project performance using suitable tools and techniques 
  • Ensure that all projects and initiatives have high levels of complexity and are delivered on-time, within scope and budget 
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility 
  • Manage the relationship with the client, sponsor, project stakeholders and third parties/vendors 
  •  Enhance leadership skills and delegate project tasks based on team members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels
  • Track project performance to analyse the successful completion of short and long-term goals while performing risk management to mitigate project risks
  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis while reporting and escalating to management as needed
  • Create comprehensive project documentation while developing project plans to share with clients and other staff members 

About You

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in leading project teams with minimal support and supervision
  • Highly competent in using planning tools
  • Deep understanding and experience with waterfall methodology
  • Experienced in implementing and operating financial control frameworks 
  • Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business and technical needs 
  • Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas to achieve a common business or technical objective 
  • Interpersonal skills to influence change, facilitating and enhancing performance within cross-functional environment 
  • Excellent decision-making skills to resolve business problems and identify priorities
