About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is seeking a Cloud Engineer located in Austin or Southlake, TX to support a project in the Financial Services sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months  but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 4 days per week.

About You

Short Overview:

Cloud Engineer to join the App Enablement team and partner with application teams to design, build, and operate cloud infrastructure. In this hands-on role, you’ll act as the technical liaison for cloud services, build and maintain Terraform modules, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, and guide application teams through cloud adoption and operational readiness.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Software Development, Cloud Engineering, or related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on cloud experience with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP preferred).
• Strong Terraform experience, including authoring, modularizing, and debugging IaC.
• Practical experience with VPC/networking, cloud IAM, managed databases (Cloud SQL or equivalents), and cloud storage.
• Strong programming/scripting proficiency in one or more automation languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Golang, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to build and provision cloud infrastructure—not just monitor it.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud and hybrid cloud environments.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to work directly with diverse application teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or related field or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Direct GCP experience (Cloud SQL, VPC, IAM, GKE, Cloud Build, CI tooling).
• Experience integrating IaC (Terraform) into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.).
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Salt, or similar.
• Understanding of cloud provider services across Database, Storage, AI/ML, and Middleware.
• Experience with SCM and DevOps tool suites and CI/CD best practices.
• Experience supporting mission-critical, 24x7 systems in production.
• Experience building operational and high-availability processes.
• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP) are a plus.
• Financial Services industry experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
