About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.

FDM is seeking a IT Workplace Support located in New York to support a project in the Finance sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 month but may be extended.

This role will be in-person with requirements to be in office 6 days per week.

About You

Role Overview
The IT Workplace Support / Desk Readiness Analyst is responsible for ensuring all desks, meeting rooms, and end-user technology are fully operational ahead of business hours.
This role is highly proactive and operational, focused on minimising user disruption, reducing support tickets, and delivering a consistently ready-to-use workplace environment across all office floors.

Key Responsibilities
Desk Readiness & Workspace Validation
  • Execute structured desk checks across all assigned floors using a defined checklist
  • Validate full workstation functionality including:
    • Monitors (ultrawide or dual setups)
    • USB-C / display cables and connectivity
    • Keyboard, mouse, and camera
  • Conduct live workstation testing:
    • Connect test laptop and confirm display, charging, and peripherals
    • Log in using standard user credentials
  • Confirm network connectivity:
    • Ethernet connection (not Wi-Fi)
    • Internet and internal system access
    • Basic network performance validation

Conference Room & Workplace Readiness
  • Perform daily walkthroughs of conference rooms and shared spaces
  • Ensure AV equipment and room setups are fully operational
  • Identify and resolve issues proactively before business hours
  • Escalate where required

Hardware & Peripheral Support
  • Ensure all desks are fully equipped with required hardware:
    • Monitor(s), camera, keyboard, mouse, LAN cable
  • Re-seat loose connections and replace faulty or missing components
  • Maintain availability of spare equipment stock

Asset Management & Lifecycle Support
  • Support laptop lifecycle activities:
    • Disk wiping and device retirement
    • Vendor return processing
  • Conduct weekly physical inventory checks across:
    • Laptops, monitors, and peripherals

Office Moves & Ad-Hoc Support
  • Support desk moves and office reconfigurations
  • Ensure all moved workstations are fully operational
  • Provide ad-hoc workplace IT support as required

Inventory & Equipment Management
  • Manage stock levels and restocking activities
  • Support equipment distribution points (e.g., vending / A/V rooms)

Working Hours
  • Monday – Friday: 5:00 AM – 9:00 AM
    Early morning shift to ensure full workplace readiness before user arrival
  • Sunday: 10-hour shift
    Focused on full desk audits, inventory, lifecycle tasks, and pre-week readiness

Key Deliverables
  • Fully operational desks and meeting rooms prior to business hours
  • Reduced volume of user-facing IT issues (particularly Monday morning)
  • Accurate reporting of desk checks, issues, and resolutions
  • Maintained and reconciled IT asset inventory

Skills & Experience
Required:
  • Desktop / IT support experience
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting (monitors, peripherals, connectivity)
  • Basic networking knowledge (Ethernet, ports, connectivity checks)
  • Experience working with structured checklists or operational processes
Personal Attributes:
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proactive and self-sufficient
  • Comfortable working in early morning / low supervision environments
  • Clear communicator with good reporting discipline
