About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Finance Software & Data Engineer to work for our client within the Insurance / Reinsurance sector. This is initially a 6 month fixed term contract role with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.

Our client is seeking an experienced Software & Data Engineer to join their Reinsurance Operations and Finance Technology function. This role will focus on delivering and supporting business-critical applications, combining software engineering, data engineering and production support. You will work across both change initiatives (including regulatory work) and BAU support, helping to improve and maintain key reinsurance systems and data platforms.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams and infrastructure teams to deliver and support technology solutions
  • Design, build, enhance and support C#.NET (including WPF) applications supporting operational and finance processes
  • Develop and optimise SQL Server solutions including stored procedures, data models and performance tuning
  • Support and enhance Access and VBA tools used for workflows, reconciliations and reporting
  • Provide production support including incident management, root cause analysis and ongoing system improvements
  • Contribute to the evolution of data platforms, including use of cloud technologies such as Databricks or BigQuery
  • Ensure engineering, data governance and security standards are upheld 

About You

  • Strong experience with C#.NET development, ideally including WPF
  • Advanced SQL Server skills (complex queries, stored procedures, optimisation)
  • Experience supporting and enhancing Access and VBA solutions
  • Proven experience supporting business-critical systems in regulated environments
  • Ability to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g. Databricks, GCP BigQuery) is desirable
  • Exposure to ETL/ELT pipelines or data integration
  • Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Teams
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Methodical, detail-oriented, and proactive with a strong sense of ownership
