This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is seeking a Application Support Engineer located in New York to support a project in the financial services sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months but may be extended.

This role will be remote.

About You

Overview of the Department/Section:
ETrading is the global team responsible for the client lobal electronic trading strategy and delivery to clients. The team is targeted with maximizing Net Operating Profit from electronic flows. This includes designing global client strategy, delivering appropriate channel management, automating pricing and hedging, algorithmic trading, client connectivity and ensuring margin maximization. The team also has responsibility for the global Sales Trader Workflow interaction to ensure both voice and electronic trades are ticketed efficiently and that the front office deliver high quality, timely and accurate ticket flow to the support organizations and allow them to manage the back-office functions of the client at low cost.

Main purpose of the role: The Automations Team is responsible for rapid and accurate price formation for use in electronic and voice workflow. In certain markets this will drive full algorithmic trading, and order management automation; and in other cases, it presents a suggested price to the main trader for quick & accurate response to request for quotes (voice and electronic). To ensure profitability is maintained the team is also responsible to identify and automate efficient hedging and trade exit opportunities on a per trade basis. In many cases the team is responsible for ensuring the underlying mid-price curve preferences of trading are reflected in the internal curve construction used by the client.
This is a real-time distributed application platform that handles market making activities, trade and position management and risk management.
The Application Support Engineer will operate in this space with technical expertise, hands-on supporting eTrading/Algo/Market Making/Position & Risk Management experience, fixed income product knowledge and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide L1 support for in-house built Font Office Pricing/Risk/Algo compute platform.
Provide L1 support in-house Kx/KDB+ Refinery applications.
Help build out monitoring and alert tools for our in-house applications.
Help on release management and application deployment.
Act as the support contact for internal and external clients.
Work closely with platform developers, quants and data analyst to troubleshoot any issue.
Maintain good communication with all stake holders throughout the life cycle of the issue.
Keeping a record of configuration changes and scheduling application updates.
Documenting processes and monitoring application performance metrics.

Essential Skills/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
Demonstrable experience in supporting real-time distributed financial application platform.
Hands-on experience with Linux OS, Linux commands and shell scripts.
Experience in monitoring tools like Grafana, Control-M, Splunk, Prometheus.
Advanced proficiency in determining the cause of application errors and repairing them.
Exceptional communication skills.

In depth understanding on any of below:
Pricing of fixed income products like bonds, swaps and derivatives
Swap product curve construction and boost strapping.
Position Risk & P&L.
Algo trading.
Experience of supporting Kx/KDB refinery.
Knowledge on python language.
