About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a People and Performance Manager (Contingent Labour) to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a remote role based from home.

Our client is seeking a hands-on People and Performance Manager to support with day-to-day operational line management of contingent labour practitioners, helping free up Practice Lead capacity so they can focus on best practice, development and delivery quality.

This is not a project management, change management or business architecture role. The focus is on running the pillar well, managing people and improving how the team operates.

Responsibilities:

  • Take on the operational line management of contingent labour Change and project delivery practitioners, ensuring performance, wellbeing and adherence to corporate policies.
  • Own and improve the activity tracker, capturing an accurate view of time spent and the types of activity being delivered, then turning this into insight, metrics and improved forecasting.
  • Work closely with permanent task managers to review worker performance, identify skills gaps and adjust the blend of skills so projects are properly supported.
  • Put clear structure around feedback loops, regular check-ins and wellbeing touchpoints so the right decisions can be made as the pillar develops.
  • Provide assurance, reporting and professional line manager advice to senior leaders, Practice Leads and Resource Management on deployment and performance.

About You

  • Proven experience of successfully leading and developing teams, with a strong focus on supporting individuals to perform well.
  •  A background in running teams, performance management and operational continuous improvement, rather than project or change delivery.
  • Comfortable working with activity data, metrics and management
  • A confident communicator who can engage with senior leaders, task managers, practitioners and resource managers
  • Immediately available to start and suited to a people leadership and performance role, rather than a project manager, change manager or business architect position.
