About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our client on a sensitive and strategically important programme. This is an exciting opportunity to support the successful delivery of complex project initiatives, working closely with project managers, business stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure requirements are effectively captured, prioritised, and managed throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a mostly remote role requiring travel to Plymouth 2-3 times per month (expenses paid). Due to the nature of the project, candidates must be eligible to pass the required security vetting and right-to-work checks.

You will play a key role in project coordination, governance, stakeholder engagement, and requirements management, helping to ensure project objectives are delivered on time and to the required standards. A strong understanding of requirements management methodologies and tools, such as DOORS and MoSCoW prioritisation, will be essential to success in this role.

Working within a collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will help maintain project controls, facilitate communication between stakeholders, and support decision-making through clear documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in the planning, coordination, and delivery of project activities
  • Assist with requirements gathering, documentation, analysis, and traceability throughout the project lifecycle
  • Work with stakeholders to define, prioritise, and manage requirements using recognised methodologies such as MoSCoW
  • Support requirements management activities using tools such as DOORS
  • Maintain project documentation, governance packs, meeting minutes, action logs, and status reports

  • Support project planning, scheduling, and resource coordination activities
  • Ensure requirements remain aligned to business objectives and project deliverables
  • Contribute to project reporting and provide updates to key stakeholders and project leadership
  • Foster effective communication between business, technical, and delivery teams

About You

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain the required security clearance and pass right-to-work checks

Nice to Have

  • Experience working on defence, government, engineering, or other highly regulated programmes
  • Familiarity with systems engineering or requirements engineering environments

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary delivery teams
  • Relevant project management or business analysis qualifications
