Quality Engineer- Remote

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking Senior Quality Engineers to work with our global systems integrator client, supporting a major enterprise technology modernisation programme. You will play a key role in assuring the quality of critical digital services that support high-volume business processes and essential public-facing services.This is initially a 5 month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a remote role with occasional travel to client site in Telford.

About the Role

We are seeking Senior Quality Engineers to design, implement, and support quality assurance solutions as part of a large-scale technology transformation programme.

The role is delivery-focused, supporting the modernisation of a long-established business-critical platform through the implementation of robust testing strategies, automation frameworks, and quality engineering practices. You will be responsible for ensuring quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle, enabling teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable software solutions aligned with programme objectives.

You will form part of a blended delivery team working alongside client and consultancy stakeholders, contributing to the successful delivery of multiple workstreams within a dynamic programme environment. The role will involve both hands-on testing activities and the coaching of wider engineering teams to adopt quality-first approaches.

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing test strategies, test frameworks, and automated testing solutions from the ground up
• Supporting the modernisation and enhancement of critical enterprise platforms through Quality Engineering best practices
• Embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle and promoting shift-left testing approaches
• Developing and maintaining automated test suites across functional, integration, system, and end-to-end testing layers
• Supporting teams in adopting Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) practices
• Applying risk-based testing methodologies to ensure appropriate test coverage and risk mitigation
• Collaborating with developers to ensure applications are designed and built for automated testing
• Supporting CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated quality gates into delivery processes
• Performing exploratory and manual testing where automation is not appropriate
• Creating, managing, and maintaining test data and test environments
• Supporting non-functional testing activities, including performance, accessibility, and security testing
• Producing and maintaining high-quality testing documentation, evidence, and reporting
• Coaching and mentoring delivery teams to improve Quality Engineering capability
• Ensuring testing activities align with programme governance, quality standards, and delivery objectives
• Providing progress updates and delivering testing activities within agreed timelines
