About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Test Analyst to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 6 - 12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Edinburgh. 

Our client is seeking a Test Analyst who is responsible for undertaking functional software testing to ensure that the level of quality delivered aligns with the organisational risk appetite through test analysis, design, implementation and execution, in line with agreed plans and strategies.

It is not just testing, testers will be a cornerstone within a tight knit agile team. As the team looks to adopt a continuous improvement approach to their ways of working to get better every day, this role will contribute to this by focussed on team collaboration and following testing best practice alongside carrying out the practical testing itself – both manual and automated.

As a respected member of the Agile team, Work with stakeholders and the squad, to ensure that all software upgrades are comprehensively tested against functional requirements and operational scenarios, and that the software performs within agreed criteria.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, prepare and execute test cases based on business and technical requirements to validate software functionality and quality.
  • Maintain end-to-end traceability between requirements, acceptance criteria, test scenarios and test outcomes, ensuring full coverage.
  • Identify, record and manage defects using approved test and defect management tools, supporting timely resolution and retesting.
  • Support test automation activities, including the execution and maintenance of automated test scripts and reusable testing assets.
  • Create and manage test data required for effective test execution, ensuring accuracy and suitability across testing environments.
  • Collaborate with business, development and technical teams to clarify requirements, provide testing updates, share knowledge and resolve issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement in testing practices by adhering to standards, promoting best practice, contributing to communities of practice and identifying new tools and methodologies.
    Support high-quality delivery outcomes by ensuring testing is embedded throughout the development lifecycle, meeting team commitments, reducing delivery risk and maintaining compliance with internal policies and industry standards.

About You

  • Proven Software Testing experience with hands-on involvement in test analysis, design, execution, defect management, test evidence capture, risk assessment and progress reporting.
  • Strong understanding of test management practices, including requirements traceability, test case creation, test data identification and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to gather information from Product Owners, Subject Matter Experts and business users to fully understand requirements and systems under test.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn complex applications and business domains, while actively sharing knowledge and supporting team capability development.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, with awareness of emerging testing trends, tools, technologies and industry best practices.
  • ISTQB Foundation Certified Tester (Essential) or equivalent recognised software testing certification.
