About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with ERP implementation delivery experience, ideally within SAP environments, to support a major Defence Joint Venture delivering critical technology and transformation programmes. This role is a 12 month contract with potential to extend and will be a remote opportunity with occasional travel to client locations as required.

You will play a key role in leading complex ERP and business transformation initiatives, working closely with senior stakeholders, programme leaders, technology teams, systems integrators, and operational partners to deliver strategic outcomes across a growing portfolio of projects. A key area of focus will be the implementation of a new SAP S/4HANA ERP platform supporting equipment logistics and operational services for the Armed Forces, alongside a wider programme of SAP, data, analytics, and business transformation initiatives.

The role will operate across a diverse portfolio of active and pipeline projects, requiring strong delivery leadership, governance, stakeholder management, and the ability to navigate complex organisational environments. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered to agreed timelines, budgets, quality standards, and business objectives while producing robust delivery artefacts and maintaining high standards of governance throughout.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager with proven experience delivering enterprise-wide ERP implementations and large-scale business transformation programmes.

You will initially lead the delivery of a major SAP S/4HANA implementation, establishing core ERP capabilities for a Defence Joint Venture supporting equipment logistics services. Beyond this, you will have the opportunity to support additional SAP RISE, analytics, data platform, and enterprise transformation initiatives as part of a substantial portfolio of ongoing projects.

The successful candidate will be a highly organised and pragmatic delivery professional, capable of managing competing priorities, influencing senior stakeholders, navigating complex organisational dynamics, and driving successful outcomes across multiple workstreams.

This role requires a resilient project leader who is comfortable operating within large enterprise environments, managing senior stakeholder expectations, and ensuring delivery teams remain focused on achieving programme objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the delivery of ERP and business transformation projects from initiation through to deployment and transition into service
  • Managing the implementation of SAP S/4HANA and related enterprise technology solutions
  • Coordinating internal teams, systems integrators, third-party suppliers, and business stakeholders throughout delivery
  • Developing and maintaining project plans, governance frameworks, RAID logs, reporting packs, and delivery artefacts
  • Managing project scope, budgets, schedules, dependencies, resources, and change control processes
  • Providing clear project reporting and delivery updates to senior leadership and governance forums
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with programme sponsors and executive stakeholders
  • Identifying, managing, and mitigating project risks, issues, and delivery challenges
  • Supporting business readiness, testing, deployment, and operational transition activities
  • Driving delivery excellence and ensuring projects meet agreed business outcomes and benefits objectives
  • Managing competing priorities across a portfolio of active and pipeline projects
  • Supporting data, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives, including programmes leveraging Databricks technologies
  • Facilitating steering committees, project boards, stakeholder workshops, and delivery reviews
  • Resolving complex stakeholder challenges and navigating organisational politics where required
  • Ensuring delivery governance, documentation, and project controls remain robust throughout the project lifecycle

About You

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale ERP implementation programmes as a Senior Project Manager
  • Strong understanding of enterprise systems implementation lifecycles and business transformation delivery
  • Experience managing SAP implementations, preferably SAP S/4HANA programmes
  • Demonstrable experience leading projects involving multiple stakeholders, suppliers, and technical delivery teams
  • Strong project governance, planning, reporting, and programme control capabilities
  • Experience managing project budgets, risks, issues, dependencies, and resource plans
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage and influence senior leaders
  • Strong organisational skills with a structured and methodical approach to delivery
  • Experience producing high-quality project artefacts and governance documentation
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and operate effectively within complex enterprise environments
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven resilience and ability to maintain delivery momentum within challenging and fast-paced programmes

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience delivering SAP S/4HANA implementation or migration programmes
  • Experience with SAP RISE transformation programmes
  • Knowledge of Defence, Government, or highly regulated sector environments
  • Experience delivering ERP solutions supporting logistics, supply chain, asset management, or operational business functions
  • Exposure to data platform, analytics, business intelligence, or Databricks-driven transformation initiatives
  • Experience managing large portfolios of concurrent projects and programmes
  • Formal Project Management qualification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, MSP, or APM PMQ
  • Experience working within Joint Ventures or multi-partner delivery organisations
  • Degree qualification in Business, Technology, Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
