About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Digital Assets Risk & Control Manager (Associate Director) to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.

Our client is seeking an experienced Risk & Control Manager to join its Clearing & Securities Services function, strengthening the first line of defence across digital assets, tokenisation and emerging market infrastructure. The role will work closely with Product, Operations, Technology and business leadership to identify, assess, manage and report risk, embedding sound risk and control practices into day-to-day business activity. A key focus will be supporting the safe, resilient and compliant expansion of digital clearing and settlement capabilities as they move from pilot into production.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, assess and manage emerging risks across digital assets, tokenisation, blockchain technologies and AI-enabled processes.
  • Establish and monitor KRIs covering digital asset exposures, blockchain infrastructure dependencies, smart contract risk and critical third-party technology providers.
  • Assess the risk implications of evolving market structures, industry standards (e.g. ISO 20022) and global regulatory developments affecting tokenised clearing, settlement and custody.
  • Lead independent review and challenge of risk incidents, making sure root cause analysis finds the systemic drivers and that lessons learned feed into control design.
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of issues, audit findings and regulatory matters, including data-driven validation that remediation is effective.
  • Provide independent challenge over control testing programmes and evaluate control effectiveness using trend data and scenario-based analysis.
  • Embed risk considerations into new products and services from inception, designing robust, scalable controls aligned to regulatory expectations.
  • Maintain the quality of Process, Risk and Control data, and identify opportunities to automate and streamline risk processes.

About You

  • 8+ years' experience in financial risk management, first-line or operational risk, clearing operations, fintech infrastructure or crypto asset markets.
  • Recent hands-on experience with digital assets, tokenisation or DLT initiatives, ideally within the last 18 months.
  • Strong understanding of RCSA, control design, control testing and issue management frameworks.
  • Experience leading incident reviews and root cause analysis within a Financial Services environment.
  • Experience establishing and monitoring KRIs, including third-party and technology risk.
  • Knowledge of clearing, settlement, custody or wider financial market infrastructure.
  • Confidence providing independent challenge and influencing senior stakeholders across the business, Technology and Risk.
  • A data-driven approach to risk, with an interest in using automation and AI to improve risk management.
