About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Power Platform & AI Engineer to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 6-12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Edinburgh.

We’re looking for an experienced Power Platform & AI Engineer to help build and develop a growing low-code and AI capability using Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering business applications, workflow automation and AI-powered agents, transforming existing manual processes into secure, scalable and supportable solutions. The position will also play an important role in establishing standards around how Power Platform and AI solutions are developed, governed and deployed.

The role sits within a Global Infrastructure Engineering function and involves working closely with business stakeholders, architects, data teams and security teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop agents and solutions that integrate with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
  • Extend Microsoft 365 Copilot through declarative agents and connectors using governed organisational data.
  • Use AI Builder capabilities, including document processing and prompts, within applications and workflows.
  • Design and deliver Canvas and Model-driven Power Apps using Dataverse.
  • Build automated business processes using Power Automate.
  • Integrate solutions with SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft 365 and wider business systems.
  • Support Microsoft 365 Copilot readiness, including permissions, data classification and appropriate guardrails.
  • Contribute to ALM, environment strategy, source control and automated deployments.
  • Implement appropriate governance and security controls, including DLP policies, role-based access and agent monitoring.
  • Work alongside data teams to consume Microsoft Fabric and Power BI data within applications and AI agents

About You

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Experience developing both Canvas and Model-driven Power Apps.
  • Strong Power Automate experience.
  • Practical experience building Copilot Studio agents within a business environment.
  • Understanding of Microsoft 365 Copilot and how it interacts with organisational data and permissions.
  • Experience using AI Builder or comparable AI services within applications and workflows.
  • Strong understanding of Dataverse, including tables, relationships, business rules and security.
  • Experience integrating with SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft 365, SQL, GraphQL and REST APIs.
  • Understanding of ALM and source control for low-code solutions.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2 or pipelines.
  • Power BI, DAX and Power Query.
  • Declarative agents or Copilot connectors.
  • Experience supporting a Microsoft 365 Copilot rollout.
  • Microsoft Purview.
  • CoE Starter Kit or Managed Environments.
  • Experience working within a regulated or security-conscious environment
