About The Role

FDM group is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Payroll Team Lead with a proven track record of working with external payroll provider in Australia. As a Payroll Team Lead your primary responsibility will be to ensure the overseeing of the Australia payroll team to ensure the accurate and timely processing of our ANZ payroll through external payroll partner.

This is a critical role that requires strong attention to detail, a deep understanding of Australian payroll laws and regulations, and strong collaboration skills to effectively manage the relationship with our external payroll provider.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the inhouse payroll team and collaborate closely with our external payroll provider to ensure the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, including salaries, wages, bonuses, and other compensations
  • Review and validate payroll previews for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with Australian payroll regulations, tax laws, and other statutory requirements to be submitted to Group Payroll Manager and Group Financial Controller for final approval
  • Perform regular audits and reconciliations of payroll data to ensure accuracy and integrity
  • Prepare and review payroll reports required to submit to relevant governing bodies, including PAYG withholding, superannuation, and payroll tax
  • Respond promptly and accurately to employee payroll-related inquiries, addressing concerns and resolving issues effectively
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations related to payroll processing, deductions, and benefits administration and raise any concerns with Group Payroll Manager
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to maintain accurate employee records and ensure seamless integration of payroll data with other systems
  • Stay up to date with changes in Australian and New Zealand payroll regulations and proactively implement necessary updates or process improvements
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the external provider, acting as the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries, escalations, and issue resolution
  • Conduct regular analysis of payroll reports provided by the external payroll provider, verify the records and information in the output file is accurate
  • Ensure timely and accurate collating of information for FBT lodgment, internal and external audit, and year-end tasks

About You

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll
  • Preferred qualifications: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Extensive knowledge of Australian payroll regulations, tax laws and statutory requirements. Knowledge in New Zealand payroll regulations in a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to work with large sets of payroll data
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues promptly
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of professionalism and integrity, particularly when dealing with sensitive and confidential payroll information
  • Great attitude and willingness to learn and grow
