About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to setup and manage the business analysis practice within a FTSE 250 company. FDM is undergoing a significant transformation to integrate our systems and to modernise and create tech-enabled colleague experiences, and create an open, integrated technology innovation platform.

As we continue on this journey, we require a highly experienced Head of Business Analysis to lead across one of our key departments, to deliver profitable programmes of work that enhance the experience for our colleagues, clients and partners.

Critical to success is a high tolerance for dynamic environments and demonstrated ability to introduce a structured development approach that integrates emerging technology as it is getting invented and balances user research and feedback with providing a vision for the future that potential users may not be aware is even possible.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define roles and responsibilities for the various grades of business analysts
  • Coordinate the efforts of multiple business analysts across the IT project portfolio working closely with the project delivery and test teams
  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues
  • Review deliverables created by the BA team for quality and consistency
  • Ensure there is a robust feasibility study process, including relevant/standardised templates
  • Lead design sessions in prototyping new solutions for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow
  • Create proof of concepts to demonstrate or evaluate the feasibility and potential business benefits of applying a particular technological business change
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing systems
  • Support the implementation of cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed solutions to aid management in making implementation decisions
  • Implement the Business Realisation phase into all projects, ensuring business benefits are clearly defined at the beginning of a project, and appropriately quantified and managed through to realisation
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house systems
  • Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members

About You

  • 6+ years experience in a Lead Business Analyst role
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and influence across different stakeholders with varying degrees of seniority
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative on assigned tasks
  • Excellent team player
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Strong planning, communication and presentation skills
  • Experience setting up and leading a team of business analysts
  • Experience with project management tools – Jira, Monday.com
