About The Role

FDM is seeking a Business Analyst in Whippany, NJ to work for our client within the financial services sector on the Markets Finance Portfolio. This role is initially for 6 months and will be hybrid working and you would be expected to be in the Whippany, NJ office 2-3 days per week.

This role will support the delivery of key initiatives across the Markets Finance portfolio. This includes subledger migrations in the US, hedge accounting and funding projects in the UK, and other critical finance transformation programs. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, hands-on experience with financial systems, and a solid understanding of accounting for markets and investment products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of initiatives across the Markets Finance portfolio, ensuring projects are aligned with business objectives.
  • Support the analysis, documentation, and delivery of requirements for projects such as subledger migrations (US focus) and hedge accounting and funding initiatives (UK focus).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure consistent progress and timely resolution of challenges.
  • Contribute to the analysis and decommissioning of existing subledger systems, ensuring smooth migrations with minimal disruption.
  • Assist in identifying gaps and designing solutions to improve financial processes and systems.
  • Support the implementation and enhancement of hedge accounting and funding processes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and collaborate with stakeholders to improve workflows.
  • Apply knowledge of accounting principles for markets and investment products to support project delivery.
  • Conduct research and analysis to address accounting-related queries and challenges.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including Risk, Finance, Operations, and Technology, to gather requirements and deliver project milestones.
  • Provide clear and concise updates to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency throughout project lifecycles.

About You

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA, CFA) or progress toward certification is a plus.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis or related roles within financial services, focusing on Markets Finance or Enterprise Data functions.
  • Practical experience in accounting for markets and investment products, including hedge accounting and funding processes.
  • Exposure to projects involving subledger migrations, finance system enhancements, or accounting transformations.
  • Familiarity with financial systems, data management tools, and accounting software.
  • Experience with SQL, Tableau, or similar tools is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and deliver actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and engaging with stakeholders at various levels.
