About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Business Analyst to work for our client within the financial services sector. This is initially a 10-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Northampton.

This role will lead business analysis efforts to support market finance operations. This includes delivering high-quality financial analytics, supporting regulatory compliance initiatives, and contributing to enterprise data strategy. The role requires collaboration across global teams and leveraging advanced tools to drive data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of high-impact business analysis for market finance, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify requirements, define solutions, and develop actionable insights
  • Collaborate with data teams to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and security of market finance data
  • Implement data governance best practices, aligning with GFED's enterprise-wide standards
  • Support compliance with financial regulations and market standards
  • Act as a key liaison between market finance and internal/external audit teams
  • Work closely with risk, finance, technology, and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery of projects and initiatives
  • Present complex analyses and recommendations to senior stakeholders

About You

Requirements

  • 8+ years in business analysis within financial services, with a strong focus on markets, finance, or enterprise data functions
  • Strong experience in requirements gathering and translating complex business needs into clear, actionable solutions
  • Proficient in creating and managing business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, and user stories
  • Expertise in process mapping, gap analysis, and identifying opportunities for process improvement
  • Strong understanding of sub-ledgers and their application within financial operations
  • Experience in ledger process improvement, including accounting rules and reducing double key entries
  • Knowledge of hedge accounting principles and practical application
  • Familiarity with cash settlements, product control, and financial workflows
  • Ideally previous experience working in investment banking, financial operations, or treasury teams
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems and data tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Alteryx)
  • Familiarity with enterprise data governance tools and methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and collaborate across global functions
  • Ability to analyse large datasets, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
