About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Engineer to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.

As they continue to grow, they are looking for a talented Data Engineer to join their innovative team. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using Python, Snowflake, and MS SQL Server
  • Load, validate, and ensure the quality of data from various sources
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data issues to maintain system availability
  • Collaborate with the Quant team to meet their data requirements and ensure timely delivery of data
  • Implement best practices for data management, including data mastering and cataloguing
  • Monitor and manage production pipelines, including setting up alerts and monitoring systems
  • Continuously improve data processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and reliability

About You

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of data engineering concepts, with a focus on Python, Snowflake, and MS SQL Server
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and database concepts
  • Experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development
  • Familiarity with coding practices, including the use of code repositories and deployment pipelines (willingness to learn on the job if not experienced)
  • Background in computer science or a related field is preferred but not essential
  • Ability to work in a data-heavy role, focusing on data loading, validation, and quality assurance
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
