About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Service Desk Engineer to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a fully onsite role that will be based in Richmond Upon Thames.

Our client is seeking a Service Desk Engineer whose main role will be providing support for the current Windows 11 deployment project. They are looking for a dedicated, professional, and customer-focused Service Desk Engineer to provide technical support and exceptional service to their clients. As a key member of the IT team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues to ensure smooth IT operations.

Responsibilities

  • Providing project support for the build and deployment of Windows 11
  • Building, configuring, and supporting desktop, laptop, and other equipment
  • Installing, configuring, and supporting software
  • Troubleshooting, escalating, and resolving matters relating to user login, system configurations, software installations, and other issues
  • Providing support to users both on site and remotely
  • Answering the Service Desk help line
  • Logging and dealing with Service Desk tickets
  • Creating documentation, and sharing knowledge of systems and processes
  • Undertaking any other reasonable tasks as requested by your manager

About You

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Service Desk Engineer role
  • Proven technical skills and extensive knowledge of Microsoft technologies
  • Ability to manage users and devices in a complex hybrid environment
  • Have a team focus, with the ability to work with users and colleagues at all levels whilst maintaining a strong customer service focus
  • Practical knowledge of user administration using Entra and Active Directory management tools will be key
  • Ability to manage devices and application deployment using Microsoft technologies 
    (particularly Intune and Autopilot)
