About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Project Manager to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Macclesfield, Edinburgh or Glasgow.

The Project Manager will be required to deliver change projects in Target Operating Model (TOM) finance which support achievement of the client’s strategy, effectively and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience of implementing changes to the finance process and systems, in support of / as part of an operating model change or re-structure. They will ensure business outcomes are clearly understood and associated solutions are delivered to enable the business to realise benefits on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.

You will have overall responsibility for planning and leading the delivery of the whole change lifecycle for projects covering both business and technical driven change.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all projects and initiatives of up to medium levels of complexity are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to mitigate project risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members' individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills

 

About You

Requirements

  • PRINCE2 or APM qualifications and awareness of basic accounting principles of life and pensions sufficient to be able to set context of project drivers
  • At least 8 years proven working experience in project management delivering both Business and Technical change initiatives
  • Experience of implementing changes to Finance process and systems, in support of / as part of an Operating Model change or re-structure
  • Experience of working within Financial Services
  • History of leading project teams with minimal support and supervision
  • Demonstrable experience and / or knowledge of Agile and Waterfall delivery practices
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple, concurrent or competing projects
  • Highly competent in using planning tools and experienced in implementing and operating financial control frameworks
