About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an AWS Engineer in London to work for our client within the Retail sector. This role will be mostly remote and is initially a 6-month contract.

As an AWS Engineer, you will be the SME and champion of cloud technologies which are relevant in the client’s space. These are primarily AWS and Kafka, and the technologies and services surrounding them. There is a huge amount of scope here as both are distinct and huge so there’s a great chance to positively impact the space in a meaningful way.

The client encourages their developers to be T shaped, so while they may not be experts in cloud technologies, they should have a working understanding of them. The ideal candidate would have at least 8 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Helping others with day-to-day cloud work
  • Support developers to create and maintain CloudFormation templates, spinning up new AWS resources or adding Kafka topics to the supply chain cluster
  • SME in cloud related tasks with the ability to complete these tasks quickly as well as upskill developers so that they can learn to handle these tasks going forward
  • Owning cloud specific work and tracking the progress
  • Reporting back on any blockers that need to be resolved
  • Take on larger pieces of cloud-centric or cloud specific work such as migrating our preprod resources out of the prod account to their own dedicated preprod account
  • Proactively raising potential issues and lack of best practice
  • Act is cloud SME on incident report
  • Work with developers to narrow down problems as far as possible within the team and then delegate to the relevant teams
