About The Role

FDM is seeking a QA Automation Engineer in Calgary, Alberta to work for our client within the financial services sector. This role is initially for 12 months and will be hybrid with requirements to be in the Calgary office 3 days per week.

As a QA Automation Engineer you would be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software applications through automated testing. This involves working closely with development teams to design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test Automation Development: Design and develop automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, or REST Assured to validate functionality, performance, and security of applications.
  • Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with developers to understand application requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD): Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and early detection of defects.
  • Test Planning and Execution: Develop detailed test plans, execute tests, and document results to ensure software meets quality standards.
  • Agile Methodology Participation: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to align testing efforts with development cycles.
 

About You

Required Skills and Experience

  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in languages such as Java or Python for writing automated test scripts.
  • Test Automation Tools: Experience with tools like Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, Cucumber, and REST Assured.
  •  Database Knowledge: Ability to write and execute SQL queries to validate data integrity.
  • Version Control Systems: Familiarity with tools like Git for source code management.
  • CI/CD Tools: Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps for integrating automated tests into build pipelines.
  • Agile Practices: Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
