About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Transaction Specialist to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London.

As a Senior Transaction Specialist, you will work as part of the Rates & FX Transaction Management team in Markets Middle Office team providing specialist technical, analytical, and advisory support to key stakeholders and business partners including Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB), Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) and Group Corporate Treasury (GCT) across a range of complex market products with significant portfolio values. In addition to being able to work within critical deadlines they must have strong and articulate communication skills to relay key messages where risks and issues need to be clearly understood to ensure appropriate risk management activity including appropriate escalation is undertaken.

Subject matter expertise in products, infrastructure and business processes is imperative as a business partner supporting the design of bespoke operational processes and performing appropriate and timely analysis over complex information escalating where markets abuse may have been detected. An understanding of Financial Markets products, specifically interest rate swaps, FX, Futures & CDS as well as the business processes and front to back infrastructure of these products. a detailed understanding of multiple regulatory obligations emanating from worldwide regulatory bodies where obligations are complex, diverse and where there is risk of censure for non-adherence. 

 Responsibilities

  • Provide Transaction Management services to all Financial and Capital Markets Sales & Trading teams
  • First point of contact for Front office, clients & wider Markets Operations teams including escalation for all operational & support queries acting as a conduit between Front and Back Office where required
  • Manage all market lifecycle activities on behalf of the bank including but not limited to Compression, Novation’s, terminations, options exercises, backloading and late clearing,
  • Consult with downstream control functions to resolve the fall out between front and back office systems ensure all trades reach Summit and feed trader risk position
  • Provide a professional service to all internal and external clients, and constructive input to work ongoing in other areas
  • Assist in the resolution of all client queries that have arisen from an action undertaken by Market Ops, undertaking root cause analysis arising from client issues, develop and deliver actions plans to drive continuous improvement
  • Support a sustainable, cost-effective target operating model to support business needs, adapting as necessary as the business model evolves
  • Contribute to and develop existing business relationships with stakeholders through the provision of performance metrics and stakeholder engagement
  • Develop and maintain procedures and interpret and apply policy for Markets Middle Office to achieve specified outputs, or advise the wider business on application of policy, then monitor implementation of those procedures within the organisation
  • Support the wide range of activities of Middle Office teams ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements by liaising with all internal risk management functions while supporting the development and implementation of the organisation's compliance policy
  • Ensure adherence with Group policy, procedures and guidelines, quality standards and all regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Measure and report MI, KPI and KRI. Engage with industry developments appropriate to business area and the wider market and understand how the external environment, including the regulatory landscape will influence change within Markets Operations
  • Assist key stakeholders with programme objectives, ensuring confidence in delivered solutions, ensuring they are market leading and support the implementation of change when required

About You

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of Financial and Capital Markets products and end to end system infrastructures including, Interest Rate Swaps, FX, swaptions, futures and CDS
  • Understanding of lifecycle activity of all products including but not limited to Compression, Novation’s and terminations
  • A varied understanding of markets systems including Summit, Murex, LCH, ICE Link, Trioptima
  • Excellent technical skills in all Microsoft applications
  • Strong capacity for operating in a flexible, multifaceted environment where creative and critical thinking is required
  • Ability to prioritise and handle workflow within tight deadlines and in pressurised situations
  • Attention to detail with superior written, verbal, problem-solving skills
  • Appreciation and awareness of the internal risk and control framework, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into a clear effective delivery
  • Capability to build and maintain strong working relationships at all levels internally across the Group and externally with other industry participants, trade bodies and suppliers, using these relationships to build influence whilst working in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Desire to learn and develop at pace attaining the vital knowledge and abilities
