About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Test Lead to work for our client within the defense sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Solihull.
 
This is an opportunity for an individual who is passionate about quality, thrives in leadership roles, and excels in both strategic and hands-on aspects of software testing. The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of technical acumen, analytical thinking, and people management skills, enabling them to drive high standards of quality across teams and projects. 

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the functional testing efforts for a critical application built on the Appian platform.
  • Quickly develop application knowledge through reviewing documentation and shadowing key technical stakeholders
  • Provide leadership and coordination for a team of 3–5 manual testers based offshore.
  • Manage test artefacts, such as test cases and acceptance criteria, in Jira.
  • Help to establish best practices and build capability within the QA function.
  • Support and mentor junior testers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers to ensure good quality outcomes are achieved within demanding timeframes.
  • Lead client workshops to capture/understand requirements, report test progress etc.

About You

Requirements: 
  • Proven experience of leading functional testing for a programme or application.
  • Experience of managing a small team of testers in multiple international locations.
  • Experience establishing a QA function/culture within an organisation, e.g. best practices, processes and tools. 
  • Proven ability to lead a Testing function in environments where QA is embedded from the outset of change initiatives and forms part of the organisational culture.
  • Experienced in collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders across the organisation, including Senior Leadership, Executive teams, and external third parties.
  • Experience with software delivery tools, specifically Jira
  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Excellent understanding of SDLC and Agile/Scrum frameworks.
