Test Lead - Solihull

About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Test Lead to work for our client within the defense sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Solihull.

This is an opportunity for an individual who is passionate about quality, thrives in leadership roles, and excels in both strategic and hands-on aspects of software testing. The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of technical acumen, analytical thinking, and people management skills, enabling them to drive high standards of quality across teams and projects.

Responsibilities:

Lead the functional testing efforts for a critical application built on the Appian platform.
Quickly develop application knowledge through reviewing documentation and shadowing key technical stakeholders
Provide leadership and coordination for a team of 3–5 manual testers based offshore.
Manage test artefacts, such as test cases and acceptance criteria, in Jira.
Help to establish best practices and build capability within the QA function.
Support and mentor junior testers.
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers to ensure good quality outcomes are achieved within demanding timeframes.
Lead client workshops to capture/understand requirements, report test progress etc.

About You

Requirements:

Proven experience of leading functional testing for a programme or application.
Experience of managing a small team of testers in multiple international locations.
Experience establishing a QA function/culture within an organisation, e.g. best practices, processes and tools.
Proven ability to lead a Testing function in environments where QA is embedded from the outset of change initiatives and forms part of the organisational culture.
Experienced in collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders across the organisation, including Senior Leadership, Executive teams, and external third parties.
Experience with software delivery tools, specifically Jira
Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
Excellent understanding of SDLC and Agile/Scrum frameworks.
