About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Technical Delivery Manager to work for our client within the insurance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Edinburgh.

Our client is seeking Technical Delivery manager to work across a complex migration programme which includes extensive changes to multiple software applications and associated infrastructure to support.  The role holder will work across the programme work streams (migration, application change, finance, testing, operational acceptance, infrastructure & architecture) bringing their technical experience, leadership and project management experience.  They will understand the technical challenges and ensure the workstreams understand cross dependencies and that the client is facilitating good technical decisions for the success of the programme and long term position of the migrated products. 

Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with the Programme Management leadership group, ensuring successful end-to-end delivery of technical components, meeting scope, time, and quality expectations
  • Provide guidance on architecture, development practices, and technology choices to delivery teams
  • Align multiple engineering teams on shared technical goals, dependencies, and integration points
  • Drive the collaboration with engineering, product, design, QA, and other teams to ensure alignment and smooth execution
  • Act as the primary liaison between programme management, architecture, technical teams, business stakeholders and external partners, driving recommendations to ensure technical decisions are articulated well to all stakeholders
  • Create and maintain cross workstream technical delivery roadmaps which support programme/workstream level plans, timelines, and resource plans to ensure smooth execution, particularly cross workstream technical dependencies
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early, including tech debt, integration challenges, and performance bottlenecks
  • Lead cross-functional technical teams, ensuring collaboration, accountability, and high performance
  • Provide regular updates on delivery status, risks, and achievements to senior leadership and stakeholders

About You

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in financial services, particularly a protection business would be a benefit
  • Possess a strong grasp of technical concepts to facilitate informed decision-making and effective communication with engineering teams
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering migrations
  • Extensive experience in delivery management of application changes in an enterprise environment
  • Experience of test environments, release and change management processes
  • Ability to ensure robust testing strategies (unit, integration, performance) are embedded in the delivery process
  • Experience of delivery of infrastructure reliant projects
