About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Business Analyst to work for our client within the insurance sector. This is initially a 3-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hyrbid role based in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Cheshire.

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Business Analyst to support the BPA Buy-In Implementation Team in shaping and documenting the future-state operational processes for Bulk Purchase Annuities. This role is critical to ensuring the team is equipped with robust, efficient, and compliant processes as we scale their BPA operations. 

The successful candidate will work closely with subject matter experts across the business to define, map, and document key operational workflows, with a strong focus on customer experience, operational resilience, and regulatory compliance. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business subject matter experts to define and document “to-be” operational processes for BPA buy-ins
  • Create detailed process maps using industry-standard tools such as Visio or Lucidchart
  • Develop comprehensive supporting materials including standard operating procedures (SOPs), process guides, and staff training content
  • Design and document the end-to-end process for the production and issuance of BPA Customer Video Statements
  • Ensure all communications are clear, consistent, and aligned with internal standards and regulatory expectations
  • Define processes for performing manual benefit calculations, including validation checks, audit trail requirements, and exception handling procedures
  • Establish formal dispute resolution workflows for trustees
  • Define clear escalation paths, outline roles and responsibilities, and develop timelines and communication protocols
  • Define business continuity processes to ensure resilience in the face of system failures or resource constraints
  • Review current document storage and access practices to identify and implement improvements that enhance operational efficiency
  • Partner with another Business Analyst to review and update the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA)
  • Ensure all processes are compliant with GDPR and internal data governance frameworks

 

About You

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a Business Analyst within financial services, preferably in pensions, annuities, or insurance
  • Strong capabilities in process mapping and operational documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams and engage with senior stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks such as GDPR and FCA guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience working in Bulk Purchase Annuities or Defined Benefit pension schemes would be advantageous
  • Familiarity with customer communication strategies and digital delivery methods, particularly video statement solutions
  • Exposure to business continuity planning and operational risk management
