About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is seeking a Data Governance Associate located in New York, NY to support a project in the finance sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.

This role will execute data governance processes day-to-day, partnering with business stakeholders and data architects to maintain trusted, well-defined data across our Databricks lakehouse and consumption platforms including DealCloud, Power Apps, and Salesforce. The Data Governance Associate will eventually specialize in specific groups within investment banking, equities, and wealth management to better represent the business’s nuanced needs in the broader Data Governance program.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support data owners and stewards in documenting and maintaining business definitions, glossaries, and data domains.
  • Help manage data issue logs, coordinate resolution activities, and track outcomes across advisory businesses.
  • Assist with defining and enforcing data entry standards, mandatory fields, and validation rules for the Advisory DealCloud program.
  • Work closely with Data Solution Architects and BA/PM resources to ensure that DealCloud and CoreData models reflect governed definitions and stewardship decisions.
  • Support the implementation of data quality rules, monitoring, and dashboards for key domains such as deals, clients, entities, and private markets data.
  • Prepare and distribute regular updates and metrics on governance and data quality activities.
  • Maintain clear documentation of governance processes, standards, and decisions, ensuring they are accessible to business and technology teams.
  • Assist with training materials and communications to help users understand data policies, stewardship roles, and best practices.
  • Define and prioritize data quality rules and metrics for key data domains across CoreData.

About You

Specific Qualifications

  • 3–6 years in data governance, data management, business analysis, or related roles within financial services, consulting, or other data-heavy environments.
  • Familiarity with data governance concepts, including policies, stewardship models, data quality management, and issue-management processes.
  • Exposure to CRM or deal management platforms (e.g., DealCloud, Salesforce) and modern data environments (e.g., Databricks) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in SQL to investigate data issues, run ad hoc analyses, and validate data quality rules.
  • Comfortable working with data in tools such as Databricks / jupyter notebooks, Excel, and BI tools.
  • Proficiency in Python for basic automation, data wrangling, profiling, cleansing, and validation is preferred.
  • Prior exposure to investment banking, equities, or wealth management preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, with a strong bias toward follow-through and closing out issues.
