About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is seeking a production support engineer located in NYC to support a project in the financial sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 24 months but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Support Engineer to support mission-critical applications in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in Python, Linux/Unix, SQL, and hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace. This role requires excellent troubleshooting skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to collaborate closely with development, infrastructure, and business teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Level 2/Level 3 production support for business-critical applications.

  • Monitor application health and system performance using Splunk and Dynatrace.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive measures.

  • Support applications running on Linux/Unix environments.

  • Write and maintain Python scripts for automation, monitoring, and issue resolution.

  • Execute SQL queries for data validation, issue investigation, and reporting.

  • Respond to production alerts, incidents, and service requests within defined SLAs.

  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide off-hours support as needed.

  • Collaborate with development teams to support releases, deployments, and post-release validation.

  • Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and incident documentation.

  • Identify opportunities to improve system stability, performance, and support processes.
