About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking Service Designers to work for our global Systems Integrator client. This is initially a 6-month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role based in one of the various office locations in the UK including Leeds, Manchester, London, Telford and Worthing.

We are seeking a number of Service Designers to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in delivering high quality service design and UX for a large end customer. Working closely with Senior Project/Programme Delivery Leadership and other Subject Matter Experts, you will help drive quality standards/outputs across one or multiple Programme Delivery areas. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to/lead specific initiatives within significant programmes of work.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a recognised Subject Matter Expert in Service Design, providing authoritative guidance and being sought out for expertise across and beyond assigned work.
  • Set strategic direction for services by thinking endtoend about how journeys connect across channels, touchpoints, and the wider organisation.
  • Design, create, and validate holistic services and journeys (online and offline), taking full accountability for design quality and outcomes.
  • Influence product and service direction by defining new value propositions, setting future service visions, and articulating the value of design.
  • Use evidence, data, and insight to inform decisions, evaluate usability, and continuously optimise services.
  • Lead and facilitate largescale workshops and collaborative sessions, influencing stakeholders through evidencebased design approaches.
  • Strengthen service design capability by coaching and mentoring, sharing best practice, and supporting the design community at a senior level.
  • Improve ways of working by defining tools, templates, and processes, embedding sustainable service design, removing barriers, and mitigating delivery risk.

About You

  • Strong usercentred mindset, demonstrating empathy, user focus, and evidence and contextbased design.
  • Proven experience in service design methods, including Design Thinking, journey mapping, and working across multiple design methodologies.
  • Experience in wireframing, sketching, rapid prototyping, and producing designs for web and mobile using design systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in agile environments, with strong communication, problemsolving, and stakeholderinfluencing skills.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and collaborative sessions, including with large or diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility, security, and sustainability considerations in service design.

Preferred:

  • Experience designing services in the public sector, including knowledge of the Service Standard.
  • Familiarity with Adobe CC, the GOV.UK Design System, and experience supporting or acting as a Service Assessor.
