About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is seeking a Test Automation Engineer located in Newark, NJ to support a project in the Securities Finance & Collateral Management technology sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 9 months but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 2-3 days per week.

About You

This role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing solutions to ensure the quality, performance, and scalability of mission-critical platforms that support securities lending, repo, margin, and collateral management for global financial institutions.

 The ideal candidate has a strong automation background, solid programming skills, and experience working in complex financial services or enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for functional, regression, and integration testing
Build and execute automated test scripts for complex, data-driven applications
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing
Collaborate with QA analysts, developers, product managers, and business analysts to define automation strategy and coverage
Identify opportunities to automate manual test cases and improve test efficiency
Validate end-to-end workflows including trade lifecycle, collateral allocation, margin calculations, and reporting
Troubleshoot and resolve test failures, flaky tests, and environment issues
Ensure test automation aligns with SDLC best practices and enterprise standards
Contribute to improving automation frameworks, tooling, and processes across the QA organization

Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience as a Test Automation Engineer, SDET, or similar role
Strong hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent)
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)
Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and test automation best practices
Experience testing enterprise-scale or financial services applications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Securities Finance, Collateral Management, Margin, Repo, or Securities Lending platforms
Experience with API and service-level testing (e.g., REST, SOAP)
Working knowledge of SQL and database validation
Exposure to performance or load testing tools
Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
