About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Test Automation Engineer to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Edinburgh.

Our client is seeking a Test Automation Engineer to support the delivery and quality assurance of financial services client platforms. This role will involve a blend of manual and automated testing, working closely with developers, business analysts, and client stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high‑quality, stable, and resilient systems.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions for backend and frontend applications, using Java‑based automation frameworks.
Execute manual functional, integration, and regression testing where automation is not yet available or appropriate.
Test systems built on Java backend services, Oracle databases, and React‑based user interfaces, ensuring end‑to‑end coverage.
Collaborate closely with developers and delivery teams to define test scenarios, improve testability, and embed quality throughout the SDLC.
Support production releases and post‑release validation, contributing to defect triage, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement of test coverage.

About You

Requirements:

Minimum of 3 years commercial experience in a QA / Test Automation Engineer role, with hands‑on exposure to both manual and automated testing.
Strong understanding of test automation using Java, with experience working on backend services and APIs.
Experience testing Oracle‑based systems, including data validation and SQL‑driven test scenarios.
Exposure to frontend testing for modern web applications, ideally React‑based UIs.
Experience working in Agile delivery environments, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
