About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a DevOps Engineer to work for our client within the higher education sector. This is initially a 12‑month contract, with strong potential to extend. The role is hybrid, based in London and requires BPSS clearance.
 

Our client is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support the delivery and operation of a Microsoft Fabric‑based data platform. The role focuses on ensuring the platform is production‑ready, secure, reliable and highly automated, supporting the full lifecycle of data products from development through to live service.

Working within the Data and Development team, you will bridge development and operations, enabling consistent and repeatable delivery of data solutions while embedding DevOps best practice across the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation to support the data platform
  • Support the deployment and operation of data solutions across Microsoft Fabric and Azure environments
  • Implement monitoring, alerting and operational controls to ensure reliability and performance
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, including ingestion and transformation processes across multiple sources
  • Apply data quality, validation and consistency checks across data products
  • Manage schema evolution and data drift, ensuring downstream impacts are addressed
  • Support testing, validation and release processes to ensure deployment readiness
  • Work collaboratively with data engineers, architects and stakeholders to resolve issues and improve platform performance
  • Contribute to agile delivery processes including sprint planning, stand‑ups and retrospectives
  • Produce and maintain documentation covering pipelines, dependencies and operational processes

About You

Requirements 

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in DevOps environments, supporting data platforms and cloud‑based solutions
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation processes
  • Experience working with Azure and Microsoft Fabric platforms
  • Strong understanding of data pipelines, ingestion patterns and transformation processes
  • Experience with SQL, Spark or similar data processing technologies
  • Understanding of monitoring, logging and operational support for data platforms
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
  • Strong collaboration skills, working across engineering, architecture and delivery teams
  • Experience with tools such as GitLab or similar desirable
  • BPSS clearance required
