About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Platform Engineer to work for our client within the Insurance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.

Our client is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join a high-performing engineering function, embedded within a value stream, to support the reliability, security, and automation of software delivery and cloud infrastructure. This role combines DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), with a strong focus on enabling scalable, secure, and fully automated environments across hybrid cloud platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable secure, automated, and reliable deployments
  • Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions across cloud and on-premise environments using tools such as Terraform and YAML
  • Implement and optimise monitoring, alerting, and logging frameworks to ensure performance, availability, and reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve platform capability and enable self-service engineering practices
  • Embed DevOps and SRE best practices, driving automation, continuous improvement, and engineering maturity
  • Support incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution, ensuring preventative measures are automated
  • Implement cost optimisation strategies, including resource utilisation monitoring and auto-scaling
  • Ensure platform environments are secure, scalable, and resilient, supporting modern architectures (microservices, containerised, serverless)
  • Integrate security practices into delivery pipelines, including automated testing and compliance controls (DevSecOps)

About You

  • Proven experience in a Platform Engineering / DevOps / SRE role (4+ years)
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or GCP) and hybrid environments
  • Hands-on expertise with CI/CD tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
  • Advanced experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep, YAML)
  • Solid understanding of containerisation and cloud-native architectures
  • Experience implementing and managing monitoring tools (e.g. ELK, New Relic)
  • Knowledge of data platforms and services (e.g. data lakes, warehouses, orchestration tools)
  • Strong understanding of application and infrastructure security, including SAST/DAST and risk assessment
  • Experience working in cross-functional agile teams, collaborating with engineering and product stakeholders
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on automation, optimisation, and continuous improvement
