FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Platform Engineer to work for our client within the Insurance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.
Our client is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join a high-performing engineering function, embedded within a value stream, to support the reliability, security, and automation of software delivery and cloud infrastructure. This role combines DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), with a strong focus on enabling scalable, secure, and fully automated environments across hybrid cloud platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable secure, automated, and reliable deployments
- Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions across cloud and on-premise environments using tools such as Terraform and YAML
- Implement and optimise monitoring, alerting, and logging frameworks to ensure performance, availability, and reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve platform capability and enable self-service engineering practices
- Embed DevOps and SRE best practices, driving automation, continuous improvement, and engineering maturity
- Support incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution, ensuring preventative measures are automated
- Implement cost optimisation strategies, including resource utilisation monitoring and auto-scaling
- Ensure platform environments are secure, scalable, and resilient, supporting modern architectures (microservices, containerised, serverless)
- Integrate security practices into delivery pipelines, including automated testing and compliance controls (DevSecOps)
