About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data / Systems Business Analyst to work for our client within the insurance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension and will be a hybrid role based in London (2–3 days per week in the office).

Our client is seeking a Business Analyst with a strong blend of data and systems experience to support change initiatives within a core data platform. This role will focus on defining data product specifications, supporting delivery, and ensuring clear alignment between business requirements and technical implementation.

We are specifically looking for individuals who operate as hybrid data/system analysts, rather than traditional process-focused Business Analysts.

Responsibilities:

  • Define specifications for data products, including documentation and functional requirements
  • Produce source-to-target mappings to support data transformation and integration
  • Develop system and data flow diagrams to support solution design and stakeholder understanding
  • Conduct data analysis to support requirements definition and issue resolution
  • Support backlog management, including prioritisation and tracking
  • Contribute to epic and user story refinement, ensuring clarity and technical accuracy

About You

  • Experience working as a Business Analyst with strong data and systems exposure
  • Previous experience within the insurance sector
  • Strong understanding of data flows, mapping, and system interactions
  • Working knowledge of SQL (beneficial)
  • Experience working in Agile environments, including backlog and user story management
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to bridge business and technical teams

Profile:

  • A hybrid Data / Systems Analyst mindset, comfortable operating across both technical and functional areas
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and confident working within complex data environments
