FDM is a global
business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Network Security
Consultant to join our Global System Integrator/Consultancy client. This is an
exciting opportunity to support a strategic network security review initiative,
focused on assessing existing network security controls, identifying
vulnerabilities, and shaping a future-state security architecture.
You will play a key
role in conducting a comprehensive assessment of the organisation’s current
network security posture, including evaluating perimeter controls, segmentation
strategies, and monitoring capabilities. This work will directly inform risk reduction
efforts, audit readiness, and wider security transformation programmes.
Working in a
collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will engage with network
engineering teams, security leadership, and risk and compliance stakeholders to
deliver actionable insights. The role is primarily advisory, with a strong
emphasis on control effectiveness, architecture, and strategic improvement,
rather than purely hands-on engineering. The role has an
initial 6–12 month duration, with strong potential for extension and is a hybrid role based in London.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct a comprehensive
review of existing network security controls and architectures
- Assess effectiveness across:
- Perimeter security
(firewalls, gateways, proxies)
- Network segmentation and
micro-segmentation
- Intrusion detection and
prevention (IDS/IPS)
- Traffic monitoring, logging,
and alerting
- Zero Trust and secure access
models
- Identify control gaps,
vulnerabilities, and security weaknesses and provide clear recommendations
- Define and prioritise
remediation actions and security enhancements
- Develop a target-state
network security architecture and control framework aligned to best
practice (e.g. NIST, ISO 27001, CIS)
- Support transition to modern
network security models such as Zero Trust and SASE
- Provide advisory input into
network security architecture and technology strategy (firewalls, NAC,
SD-WAN, SASE platforms)
- Produce clear documentation,
including assessment reports, roadmaps, and executive summaries
- Define and track KPIs and
metrics for network security effectiveness
- Engage with stakeholders
across security, network engineering, and risk / audit functions
- Translate technical findings
into business risk and actionable insights
