About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Product manager to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London.

Our client is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the product vision, strategy and roadmap for the replatforming of the wholesale credit system, and drive its delivery end-to-end in an agile way- from target-state definition through build, data migration and cut-over to the safe decommissioning of the legacy platform. The role ensures the new platform delivers measurable business, risk and regulatory outcomes: faster and more consistent credit decisioning, stronger risk data, lower operating cost and reduced operational risk.

Responsibilities:

  •  Product vision & roadmap — define and own the target-state vision and a multi-year, outcome-driven roadmap for the credit platform, aligned to Wholesale Lending strategy and the CIO’s objectives.
  • Backlog & prioritisation — translate business, risk and regulatory needs into a prioritised backlog of epics and features; make scope and trade-off decisions transparent to stakeholders.
  • Agile delivery leadership — set direction each sprint / programme increment, partner closely with engineering, architecture and QA, and coordinate dependencies across multiple squads.
  • Migration & cut-over — own the migration strategy — data migration, parallel running, phased rollout and safe decommissioning of legacy systems — protecting continuity of a business-critical risk system.
  • Stakeholder management — engage and align senior stakeholders across the front office (coverage / relationship teams), Credit Risk, Operations, Compliance, Finance, Technology and Internal Audit; run steering and governance forums.
  • Vendor & partner management — where third-party platforms or delivery partners are involved, evaluate configure-vs-build options and manage vendor performance and roadmap alignment.
  • Control & compliance — ensure delivery meets change-governance, security, audit and regulatory requirements throughout, without sacrificing pace.
  • Outcomes & reporting — define success metrics, track value realisation, and report progress, risks and benefits to the CIO and programme leadership.

About You

Essential:

Domain expertise - wholesale credit

  • Strong understanding of the corporate / wholesale credit lifecycle: origination, credit assessment and rating, approval / sanctioning workflow, limit and exposure management, covenant monitoring, and annual review / renewal.
  • Working knowledge of the risk and regulatory landscape, including Basel III/IV, IRB credit risk models, IFRS 9 / ECL, stress testing and model governance, sufficient to translate regulatory requirements into product requirements.

Product management craft

  • Proven track record of setting product vision and roadmap, and managing a large backlog across complex technology change or replatforming programmes.
  • Outcome-focused prioritisation, balancing value, effort and risk, with the ability to clearly articulate the rationale behind delivery decisions.

Agile delivery

  • Demonstrable experience delivering in Agile / SAFe environments at scale, operating across multiple squads within a sprint and programme increment cadence.
  • Comfortable using empirical feedback and metrics to guide delivery, including flow metrics, delivery metrics and business value measures.

Technical and platform fluency

  • Understanding of modern platform architecture, including cloud, APIs, microservices, event-driven integration and data platforms, with the ability to challenge and partner effectively with engineering teams.
  • Experience of data migration and integration, including credit data models, data lineage, single source of truth principles and phased cutover approaches, as well as build-versus-buy and vendor platform evaluations.

Stakeholder leadership and influence

  • Credibility with senior stakeholders and the ability to influence without direct authority across front office, risk, operations, technology and compliance functions.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to tailor messages to both business and technical audiences and operate effectively in ambiguous and evolving environments.

Governance, risk and controls

  • Experience delivering within a regulated banking control framework, including change governance, audit trails, model risk, data governance and third-party risk management.

Desirable:

  • Hands-on experience with vendor credit or lending platforms, such as nCino, Finastra or Moody's, and build-versus-buy evaluations.
  • Direct exposure to Basel, IFRS 9 and model governance requirements within a lending environment.
  • Recognised product or Agile certification, such as SAFe PM/PO or Pragmatic Institute.
