About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Project Manager (Data Migration) to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension and will be a hybrid role based in Cheshire. 

Our client is undertaking a large-scale transformation programme and is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead data migration activities across multiple systems and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the controlled delivery of migration activities, maintaining data quality, and supporting successful programme outcomes through effective planning, governance, and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full project lifecycle from initiation through to delivery and closure.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, resource forecasts, and delivery milestones.
  • Lead all phases of data migration, including data discovery, mapping, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and cutover activities.
  • Coordinate business and technical teams to ensure alignment on requirements, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Maintain RAID logs, manage risks and issues, and provide regular status reporting to programme leadership.
  • Support governance processes, change control, and project assurance activities.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across business, technology, and third-party vendors to ensure successful delivery.
  • Drive project execution while ensuring minimal operational disruption during migration activities. 

About You

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering complex transformation projects within large-scale programmes.
  • Strong experience managing end-to-end data migration initiatives, including planning, execution, testing, and cutover.
  • Solid understanding of data migration methodologies, data quality principles, validation techniques, and reconciliation processes.
  • Experience working across multiple systems and complex data environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business audiences.
  • Experience operating within Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid delivery environments.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and risk management capabilities.
  • Relevant certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, or equivalent are advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in project management, with significant exposure to data migration and transformation projects.
