About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a QA & UAT consultant to work for our client within the Finance sector. This is initially a 12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a fully office based role that will be based in London.

As a QA & User Acceptance Testing Consultant, you will act as a technically aware end user, following predefined testing scripts to validate that workstations, meeting rooms and supporting technology are operating correctly before the building becomes operational.  Working as part of a large testing team, you will systematically execute test cases, identify defects and accurately document issues for remediation by specialist technical teams.

This role focuses on testing and validation rather than issue resolution. Successful candidates will be expected to identify, reproduce and clearly articulate faults while ensuring testing activities are completed accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Workplace Technology Testing

  • Perform scripted quality assurance testing across desktop workstations.
  • Validate workstation setup and functionality across multiple floors.
  • Verify power and network connectivity at assigned desk locations.
  • Conduct monitor, headset, docking station and peripheral equipment checks.
  • Confirm user login and end-user functionality against predefined test scripts.
  • Record testing outcomes accurately and consistently.

Meeting Room & AV Testing

  • Conduct functional testing of internal meeting rooms and collaboration spaces.
  • Test client-facing and investor-facing conference rooms.
  • Validate audio, video and display functionality.
  • Test collaboration technologies and meeting room equipment.
  • Execute meeting room scenarios according to documented test scripts.
  • Verify room readiness for business use and occupancy.

Defect Identification & Reporting

  • Identify faults, failures and usability issues during testing activities.
  • Accurately document defects and provide clear descriptions of observed issues.
  • Capture supporting evidence where required.
  • Escalate findings through agreed reporting channels.
  • Retest areas where remediation work has been completed.

Quality Assurance Activities

  • Execute testing activities in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed test cases.
  • Ensure all testing documentation is updated and auditable.
  • Support test progress reporting and daily status updates.
  • Contribute to the overall readiness assessment of the new headquarters.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with fellow testers, project managers and deployment teams.
  • Share knowledge and best practices to improve testing efficiency.
  • Support a positive team environment during periods of high delivery activity.
  • Maintain flexibility to work across different floors and areas of the building as testing needs evolve.

About You

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies, defects and incomplete configurations.
  • The ability to accurately follow documented processes, testing scripts and quality assurance procedures.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and articulate issues to technical and project teams.
  • Technical awareness and confidence working with desktop technology, peripherals and collaboration tools, without requiring deep engineering or troubleshooting expertise.
  • Professionalism and discretion when operating within a high-touch financial services environment.
  • A methodical and organised approach to work.
  • The ability to perform repetitive testing activities consistently while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities during periods of peak delivery.
  • Confidence working independently while contributing effectively within a wider project team.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies and testing processes quickly.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Quality Assurance (QA) or technology deployment projects.
  • Exposure to AV, meeting room or workplace technology environments.
  • Experience working within financial services, banking or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with defect logging, issue tracking or project management tools.
  • Knowledge of desktop hardware, peripherals and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams.
  • This role is particularly well-suited to individuals who are naturally detail-oriented, process-driven and enjoy identifying issues before they impact end users.
