About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Business Analyst- Specialty Lines Insurance to work for our client within the Insurance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Manchester.

Our client is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support the delivery of strategic business and technology change initiatives across their Specialty Lines Insurance portfolio. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, underwriting teams, operations, and technology functions to analyse requirements, identify solutions, and ensure successful project delivery within a Specialty Insurance. environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Elicit, analyse, document, and validate business and functional requirements across Specialty Lines Insurance programmes.
  • Conduct workshops and stakeholder interviews to gather requirements and understand business processes.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, claims, operations, finance, compliance, and technology teams to define target solutions.
  • Produce high-quality business analysis artefacts including business requirements documents, user stories, process maps, and gap analyses.
  • Support the translation of business requirements into functional specifications for technology teams.
  • Analyse current and future-state business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimisation.
  • Support testing activities, including UAT planning, execution, defect management, and business sign-off.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate communication between business and technical teams.
  • Assist with change management and business readiness activities to support successful adoption.
  • Ensure solutions align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational needs. 

About You

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst within the Insurance industry, with significant exposure to Specialty Lines Insurance.
  • Strong understanding of Specialty Insurance products, including Financial Lines, Cyber, Professional Indemnity, D&O, Marine, Energy, Aviation, and other Specialty classes.
  • Experience working within London Market, Lloyd's, Commercial, or Specialty Insurance environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting business transformation, operational change, regulatory, data, or technology initiatives.
  • Strong requirements gathering, process mapping, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and engaging senior business stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in business analysis tools and methodologies, including Jira, Confluence, Visio, Azure DevOps, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, business cases, process flows, and functional requirements documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a Business Analyst within the Insurance sector.
  • Professional certifications such as BCS Business Analysis, CBAP, Agile BA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
