About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Business Architect – Specialty Lines Insurance to work for our client within the Insurance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.
 

Our client is seeking an experienced Business Architect to support the design and delivery of enterprise-wide business transformation initiatives across their Specialty Lines Insurance portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining target operating models, business capabilities, processes, and organisational change strategies, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of target operating models, business architecture frameworks, and transformation roadmaps across Specialty Lines Insurance.
  • Define and document business capabilities, value streams, customer journeys, and operating model changes.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to align strategic objectives with delivery initiatives.
  • Conduct current-state and future-state assessments, identifying opportunities for optimisation and transformation.
  • Support enterprise-wide change initiatives, ensuring alignment across underwriting, claims, operations, finance, and technology functions.
  • Facilitate workshops with senior stakeholders to define business requirements, strategic priorities, and organisational impacts.
  • Produce high-quality business architecture artefacts, including capability maps, business process models, and operating model documentation.
  • Evaluate the impact of regulatory, operational, and technology changes on the wider business landscape.
  • Support governance activities and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Drive consistency and best practice in business architecture across transformation programmes. 

About You

  • Proven experience as a Business Architect within the Insurance industry, with significant exposure to Specialty Lines Insurance.
  • Strong understanding of Specialty Insurance products, including Financial Lines, Cyber, Professional Indemnity, D&O, Marine, Energy, Aviation, and other Specialty classes.
  • Experience working within London Market, Lloyd's, Commercial, or Specialty Insurance environments.
  • Demonstrated experience designing target operating models and supporting large-scale transformation programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of business architecture frameworks, capability modelling, value stream mapping, and organisational design.
  • Experience conducting current-state and future-state assessments and defining transformation roadmaps.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging executive-level leadership.
  • Proficiency in architecture and modelling tools such as Visio, LeanIX, ARIS, Bizzdesign, Confluence, Jira, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience delivering business architecture and transformation initiatives within the Insurance sector.
  • Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, BCS Business Architecture, Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent are highly desirable.
