About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Architect to work for our client within the Public sector. This is initially a 3 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role 2 days a week in office (Monday + Wednesday) that will be based in London.
 
Our client is seeking a Data Architect to lead the analysis of current data flows, integrations and reporting, and define the data requirements and target data architecture needed to support a replacement platform with improved data quality and integrity.
 

Responsibilities: 

  • Contribute to the Discovery Plan and constraints log from a data perspective
  • Map end-to-end data flows, including key upstream/downstream systems and manual transfers
  • Review reporting needs and limitations, including operational, management and BI/Power BI consumption
  • Assess data integration patterns, interfaces and dependencies
  • Define data requirements within the requirements catalogue, ensuring consistent definitions, clear ownership and data quality by design
  • Contribute to options appraisal and feasibility from a data architecture perspective, including finance impacts
  • Contribute data architecture input to the target architecture and indicative roadmap
  • Contribute data-related input to the business case inputs pack

Contributes to deliverables across

Project initiation & scope definition, Discovery & research plans, stakeholder/user mapping, current-state assessment, requirements elicitation, future-state definition, options assessment & recommendations, future delivery roadmap, business case inputs pack & handover.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect on Discovery or early-stage transformation engagements
  • Strong experience mapping end-to-end data flows and integration patterns across complex system landscapes
  • Experience defining data requirements, data quality standards and ownership models
  • Working knowledge of reporting and BI consumption patterns (e.g. Power BI)
  • Experience in UK public sector, regulated or similarly complex organisational environments
Desirable experience/skills
 
  • Experience with GDPR-driven data governance in a regulated environment
  • Familiarity with finance system integration and reconciliation impacts
  • Experience contributing to procurement or business case documentation

Reporting line / working arrangements

Reports into the Discovery Lead / Delivery Manager. Works closely with the Technical Architect and Data Analyst.
