About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Java Developer (Electronic FX Trading) to work for our client within the Banking & Financial Services sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a Hybrid role that will be based in London.

Our client is seeking a highly technical Senior Java Developer to join a Front Office Electronic FX (EFX) technology team delivering strategic pricing and auto hedging capabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with Traders, the Quantitative Strategies Group and technology teams to develop low latency pricing systems across FX products including Spot, Swaps and NDFs. This is an opportunity to work on business critical trading platforms and gain exposure to advanced low latency technologies, market data systems and algorithmic trading solutions.

Responsibilities
 
  • Develop and enhance real time, low latency pricing services for FX Swaps, Spot FX and NDF products.
  • Build and support auto hedging solutions used by Front Office trading teams.
  • Collaborate with Traders and the Quantitative Strategies Group to refine requirements and deliver strategic enhancements.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and Agile ceremonies.
  • Maintain and improve existing pricing and trading applications to meet regulatory and business requirements.
  • Work closely with other EFX technology teams including Market Access, Pricing Distribution and Dashboard teams.
  • Provide occasional Level 3 production support for critical trading applications.
  • Contribute to the optimisation of ultra low latency systems, including performance tuning and scalability improvements.
  • Enhance back testing capabilities and support ongoing trading strategy development.
  • Take ownership of complex technical challenges, managing workloads independently and driving tasks through to completion.

About You

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in server side Java development within enterprise environments.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related analytical discipline.
  • Strong experience developing low latency, high throughput applications within trading or financial markets environments.
  • Knowledge of FX pricing, algorithmic trading, electronic trading platforms or pricing systems across any asset class.
  • Hands on experience with KDB+/Q and time series data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of Java, multithreading, concurrency, algorithms, data structures and design patterns.
  • Experience working across Linux environments with a solid understanding of networking concepts.
  • Proven experience using Git, Jenkins, Ansible and modern CI/CD tooling.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments and the full Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Ability to provide 3rd line production support for business critical applications.
  • Experience collaborating directly with Traders, Quantitative Analysts and senior technology stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a high performing team environment.
