About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking Senior Planners to support a major infrastructure programme based in Ipswich. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile delivery team working across large-scale infrastructure projects, providing planning expertise to drive successful programme outcomes. This role offers an initial 12-month engagement with strong potential to extend up to 2 years, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional looking to contribute to a long-term transformation programme.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience gained within large infrastructure consultancies, engineering organisations, or major project delivery environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage integrated project and programme schedules across complex infrastructure workstreams
  • Support programme delivery teams by providing planning expertise and schedule assurance
  • Monitor project progress against milestones, identifying risks, delays, and critical path impacts
  • Challenge assumptions, durations, and sequencing to improve delivery performance
  • Coordinate planning activities across multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Produce regular planning reports, dashboards, and programme updates for senior leadership
  • Conduct schedule risk analysis and scenario planning to support decision-making
  • Ensure planning standards, governance requirements, and reporting frameworks are consistently applied
  • Support programme controls, change management, and performance management activities
  • Collaborate with project managers and delivery teams to identify opportunities to improve programme efficiency

About You

  • Proven experience as a Planner or Senior Planner on major infrastructure, construction, engineering, or capital delivery programmes
  • Background working within a large infrastructure consultancy, engineering consultancy, or major project delivery organisation
  • Strong proficiency with Primavera P6 and associated planning methodologies
  • Expertise in schedule management, critical path analysis, resource planning, and dependency management
  • Experience working within complex, multi-stakeholder programme environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence delivery teams and challenge planning assumptions constructively
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting transport, rail, utilities, aviation, highways, water, or energy infrastructure programmes
  • Knowledge of programme controls, earned value management, and schedule risk analysis
  • Experience working within client-side programme environments
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts and major project governance frameworks
  • Experience producing executive-level planning and performance reporting

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in project planning or programme controls within infrastructure environments
  • Professional planning qualifications or Primavera certification desirable
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle management and programme delivery methodologies
