FDM is a global
business and technology consultancy seeking an Experienced Business Analyst to
join our Global Systems Integrator client. This is an exciting opportunity to
support a strategic information governance and content management programme,
helping to improve the organisation's approach to document retention,
compliance, and records management across its Microsoft 365 estate. This is initially a 6 month contract with good potential to extend and will be a remote role.
You will play a key
role in a Microsoft Purview initiative focused on analysing SharePoint sites,
reviewing document ownership and usage, and identifying opportunities to
rationalise content through archiving and read-only retention strategies.
Working closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, compliance
specialists, and Microsoft 365 experts, you will help drive improvements in
information governance and data lifecycle management.
This is an excellent

About the Role
We are seeking a
Business Analyst with strong stakeholder management, requirements gathering,
and business process analysis experience to support a Microsoft Purview and
SharePoint governance programme.
The role will focus
on reviewing existing SharePoint environments, understanding how information is
currently stored and managed, and identifying opportunities to improve content
governance through archiving, retention, and lifecycle management practices.
You will work with stakeholders across the business to assess document
ownership, usage patterns, retention requirements, and compliance
considerations.
You will be
responsible for gathering requirements, facilitating workshops, documenting
current and future-state processes, and supporting the implementation of
governance recommendations that improve operational efficiency while reducing
information management risk.
The role is highly
collaborative and will require engagement with both technical and non-technical
stakeholders across multiple business functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Gathering, analysing, and
documenting business and technical requirements related to SharePoint and
information governance initiatives
- Conducting analysis of
SharePoint sites, document libraries, and content repositories
- Working with business
stakeholders to understand document ownership, usage, retention, and
compliance requirements
- Identifying opportunities to
archive, retire, or transition content into read-only states
- Supporting the implementation
of Microsoft Purview information governance capabilities
- Facilitating workshops,
stakeholder interviews, and requirements gathering sessions
- Producing high-quality
business analysis artefacts, including process maps, requirements
documents, user stories, and gap analyses
- Supporting data retention,
records management, and content lifecycle management activities
- Identifying risks,
dependencies, assumptions, and opportunities across project workstreams
- Collaborating with Microsoft
365 specialists, information governance teams, project managers, and
delivery teams to support successful project outcomes
- Ensuring requirements are
clearly prioritised, validated, and aligned to business objectives
- Providing regular updates and
insights to key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
