About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Jira Administrator and Platform Improvement Specialist to work for our client within the Education sector. This is initially a 3-6 month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London.

Our client is seeking an experienced Jira Administrator to assess, improve and stabilise an established Jira environment within a large and complex organisation. This is a hands-on administration role focused on reviewing platform configuration, governance, permissions, workflows and operational processes before implementing lasting improvements. Jira will be the primary focus, with additional responsibility for reviewing and improving Aha! and Airtable. The successful candidate will help deliver a more secure, scalable and supportable platform estate while ensuring knowledge transfer to the permanent engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess the existing Jira environment, identifying configuration, governance, security and operational issues across the platform.
  • Analyse projects, workflows, permissions, automation, integrations and plugins, including the use of Xray, to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a prioritised remediation plan that improves platform stability, maintainability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with platform engineers, service management teams and platform users to understand requirements, address recurring issues and improve release management processes.
  • Produce comprehensive documentation and complete a structured handover to support ongoing platform administration.

About You

  • Proven experience administering and configuring Jira within a large or complex organisation, including projects, workflows, permissions, issue types, screens, automation and integrations.
  • Experience conducting Jira platform reviews or health checks and implementing improvements to governance, security, usability and maintainability.
  • Ability to investigate platform issues through configuration analysis, stakeholder engagement and review of support requests.
  • Strong documentation, knowledge transfer and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Desirable: Experience with Aha!, Airtable, Xray, Jira release management functionality or ServiceNow.
