About The Role

The Senior Consultant - Data & AI Consulting works with clients and account managers to win and deliver Data & AI consulting work, whilst contributing to the growth of FDM's Data & Analytics practice. The role requires an adaptable, commercially minded consulting professional with broad Data & AI expertise to own sales support, solution design, delivery assurance and consultant development. The successful candidate will identify opportunities, solve business challenges, build trusted client relationships and help shape the future of the practice.

Core Responsibilities

Practice & Capability Growth

  • Support the growth and evolution of FDM's Data & Analytics capability and act as a role model and ambassador for the practice.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to shape Data, Analytics and AI training, capability frameworks, skills matrices and workforce plans.
  • Monitor emerging Data and AI trends and market demand to inform capability priorities and practice development.
  • Sales Support, Pre-Sales & Solution Design
  • Support pre-sales activity, discovery workshops and client engagements, identifying Data, AI and outcome-based consulting opportunities.
  • Provide SME input to proposals, Statements of Work (SoWs), RFPs, bid responses and sales cycles.
  • Shape practical solutions aligned to business outcomes, including delivery approaches, team structures, scope, dependencies and success measures.
  • Contribute to account growth and wider practice expansion.

Delivery Support & Assurance

  • Provide guidance and assurance across client engagements from mobilisation through delivery.
  • Support governance, stakeholder management, risk management and successful delivery of measurable business outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement and translate lessons from delivery into reusable practice capability.

Consultant Development & Talent Leadership

  • Interview, assess and shortlist Data, Analytics and AI candidates.
  • Mentor consultants and future leaders, supporting capability assessments and development plans.
  • Promote continuous learning, knowledge sharing and progression across the practice.

About You

  • At least 7 years' experience delivering Data, Analytics, AI or Data Transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrable experience leading or contributing to successful end-to-end delivery of data-focused projects.
  • Strong practical experience across one or more of:
    • Data Engineering
    • Data Platforms
    • Data Architecture
    • Data Migration
    • Business Intelligence & Analytics
    • Data Governance
    • Machine Learning & AI Solutions
    • Generative AI, AI adoption and AI governance
    • Cloud Data Technologies
  • Experience working directly with client stakeholders to define requirements, shape solutions and assure successful delivery.
  • Experience helping to win new business, working alongside account managers on pre-sales, proposals and SoWs
  • Proven ability to build trust and credibility through practical delivery experience and subject matter expertise.
  • Strong consulting, stakeholder management and communication skills, including facilitating workshops and presenting to senior business and technical audiences.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
  • Growth mindset, commercial awareness and a strong orientation towards account growth.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate credibly across business and technical audiences.
  • Self-starter who gets things done and thrives in ambiguity.

Desirable Experience

  • Prior experience within a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Experience contributing to capability development, practice growth and account expansion.
  • Knowledge of modern cloud-based data ecosystems.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud, data or AI technologies.
