About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Product Manager to work for our client within the Insurance / Financial Services sector. This is initially a 4-6 month contract starting October 2026 with the potential to extend, and will be based in the UK.

Our client is delivering a major Finance Transformation programme within their Global Data Function and is looking for a Data Product Manager to shape and deliver their Premium data product. The role will define the product vision, scope and roadmap to create a trusted, governed and reusable view of premium data. It will bring together data from multiple business areas and source systems, set common definitions and quality standards, and enable consistent reporting and analysis. This role will suit individuals who enjoy owning data products end to end, working closely with senior Finance, business and Technology stakeholders, and making evidence-based decisions in complex data environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and communicate the vision, outcomes and roadmap for the Premium data product, aligned to Finance transformation priorities and Group Data strategy.
  • Lead discovery with Finance, underwriting and business stakeholders to understand processes, reporting needs, pain points and data flows, and translate these into a prioritised, phased product scope.
  • Own the product end to end, from source data and interfaces into the Unified Data Ecosystem through to transformation, conformance, dashboards and analytics.
  • Drive alignment of premium, commission and other data across business areas, including common grain, definitions, dimensions and business rules.
  • Maintain an integrated roadmap and backlog, exposing trade-offs and managing cross-team dependencies.
  • Define and mobilise the cross-functional team, and matrix-manage engineering, architecture, data quality, analysis, reporting and testing specialists.
  • Define data ownership, lineage, metadata, access controls, reconciliation and quality expectations so premium data is trusted and auditable.
  • Set success measures, monitor product health and usage, and embed the product into reporting and decision-making.
  • Agree the transition from change to run, including stewardship, support and ongoing product improvement.

About You

  • Proven experience defining and managing data products from discovery and strategy through delivery, adoption and ongoing stewardship.
  • Strong understanding of how premium data supports financial management, underwriting performance, planning and executive reporting.
  • Experience working across multiple source systems, business units and data models to establish common definitions and reusable data structures.
  • Credibility with senior Finance, underwriting, Data and Technology stakeholders, with the ability to challenge constructively and build alignment.
  • Strong analytical and structured thinking, with the ability to break down ambiguous problems and make pragmatic scope and sequencing decisions.
  • Practical knowledge of data governance, controls, lineage, reconciliation and quality standards in a regulated environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing roadmaps, backlogs, risks and dependencies using Agile.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to turn complex data and delivery issues into clear recommendations and executive-level updates.
Nice to Have:
  • Commercial or specialty insurance experience, particularly with premium, underwriting, policy, commission or reinsurance data.
  • Experience delivering enterprise data products on a cloud data platform and enabling Power BI or similar analytics.
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence or similar delivery tools.
